Abstract
820,381. Materials for making coke. SOC. DE TECHNIQUE INDUSTRIELLE. Dec. 4, 1956 [Dec. 9, 1955], No. 37074/56. Class 55 (2). Coke is manufactured by mixing coal having poor coking properties, e.g. a high volatile non-caking coal, with finely-divided pitch or tar and coking the mixture in an oven at 700- 800‹ C. without forming it into briquettes. The mixture may also include semi-coke In an example a mixture to be coked comprised 70% crushed and preferably dry coal having poor coking properties, 25% semi-coke containing 15% volatile matter; 5% finelydivided pitch or 5% heavy coal tar pitch.
