Abstract

Electrode coke is produced by heating to 900-1400 DEG C. a green mass obtained by mixing carbon mud, having a water content of 20-75%, with solid hydrocarbons, such as pitch. The carbon mud may be mixed with oil, such as anthracene oil, and then partly freed from water in a centrifuge before adding the binder. Carbon-containing materials may be added such as natural graphite, electrode graphite, retort graphite, anthracite, coke or fat coal.
