Abstract

726,301. Materials for making coke. KOPPERS GES., H. Sept. 11, 1953 [Sept. 30, 1952], No. 25212/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 55 (2). Flotation sludge from anthracite washing is dried until it has less than 15 per cent moisture content and mixed with a high volatile carbonaceous fuel not fusing at coking temperatures in the proportion of up to 20 per cent of the fuel to the total mass, the compressed mixture being carbonized at about 800‹ C. to obtain a firm, medium to easily combustible coke. Preferably brown coal dust or breeze with a grain size not exceeding 3 mm. is used, but this may be partly or wholly replaced by finely ground dried peat or wood waste.
