Abstract
368,420. Materials for making coke; carbonizing processes. TRENT, W. E., 17, Battery Place, New York, U.S.A. Dec. 15, 1930, No. 37818. [Classes 55 (i) and 55 (ii).] A fuel is obtained in a two-stage process the first stage of which comprises the heating of a mixture of pulverized coal, moisture and oil at 230‹ C. to remove a part of the moisture and oil, the material then being briquetted, and the second stage of which comprises the carbonization of the briquettes to remove the remaining volatiles. The raw material may consist of 10 per cent of moisture.and 15 per cent of oil ; the briquetted material preferably contains about half of the moisture content and 20 to 50 per cent of the oil content.
