Abstract

369,394. Process for making semicoke. POWELL, H. E., 141, Oxford Road, Linthorpe, and DORMAN, LONG, & CO., Ltd., Zetland Road, both in Middlesbrough. March 20, 1931, No. 8655. [Class 55 (i).] In the production of semi-coke in an ordinary coke oven, a bed of hard coke is formed on the floor of the oven before the charge of coal is introduced, so that the semi-coke obtained does not stick to the floor when the oven is discharged. The oven temperature may be maintained at 1000‹ C. or more, in which case the time for carbonization is shortened, or 'a lower temperature of between 1000 and 700‹ C. is used.
