Abstract

250,206. Wortman, B. April 6, 1925, [Convention date]. Composition fuel-In briquetting anthracite or other coal and/or coke with waste sulphite liquor, the anthracite &c. is screened to a fineness of 6 to 10 mesh to the inch and dried to reduce the moisture content to not more than 3 per cent. A portion of the material is mixed with binder and ,another portion then added. The mixed mass is further treated in an edge-runner mill and moulded, the briquettes being baked and slowly cooled. In an example 100 lbs. anthracite and 20 lbs. sulphite liquor of 27‹ to 30‹ BÚ, at 150‹ F., are mixed for 10 minutes, a further 100 lbs. anthracite then being thoroughly incorporated. The mass is mixed in a mill for about five minutes and briquetted, the briquettes being heated to 635‹-665‹ F. for 25 minutes and slowly cooled.
