274,876. Koks-und Halbkoks-Brikettierungs Ges. July 24, 1926, [Convention date], Composition fuel.-In briquetting lignite, coal, anthracite, and like unearbonized fuel with from 3 to 6 per cent of clay, together with waste sulphite liquor or cellulose pitch, the clay is very finely ground preferably in a colloid mill, or a thorough suspension in water may be employed. The material mixed with clay, which may be highly plastic such as is contained in the overburden of lignite mines, may be moistened with dilute liquor or clay finely ground or as a thin slime is treated with the liquor to form an emulsion-like mixture which is added to the material which in this instance may include coke and semi-coke. A suitable waterproofing chemical may be added before pressing or the briquettes may be roasted or kiln-dried. The binding substances without water may be mixed with the material to be briquetted and the mixture moistened, pressed and warmed with steam in a steam kneading plant.
