Abstract

414,361. Agglomerating fuel. ROBERTS, A. A., Imperial House, Kingsway, London. Oct. 26, 1932, No. 29976. [Class 50.] Not more than 5 per cent of hydraulic cement is mixed dry with powdered material such as coal, coke, petroleum coke, peat, lignite, sawdust, spent tan bark, and is then distributed throughout the mass by an equal weight of water. An aqueous bituminous emulsion may additionally be used and may contain a small quantity of a combustion-promoting agent such as alkali metal chloride or boric acid and the water content then amounts to 1“ times the total weight of binder. The briquettes may be treated with ignition accelerating agents such as copper or ferric oxide or boric acid, and may be rendered smokeless by being heated to 300 to 1000‹ F.
