Abstract

1,181,752. Fuel briquettes. BERGWERKSVERBAND G.m.b.H. 4 June, 1968 [21 June, 1967], No. 26564/68. Heading C5G. Briquettes are made from fine carbonaceous material comprising coke and/or hard coals, brown coal, or oxidized coal by mixing the coke &c. with an oil-in-water emulsion containing a water-soluble adhesive, e.g. sulphite lye, adding a binder which includes a coke former, briquetting the mix, and oxidatively treating the briquettes at 280‹ to 330‹ C. for 1¢ to 4 hours. The binder may be petroleum, bitumen or coal tar pitch, and the briquettes may be impregnated with a solution or dispersion of a plastics material, e.g. a solution of polyvinyl alcohol.
