Abstract
803,821. Coaxial resonators. EASTERN INDUSTRIES Inc. Sept. 2, 1955 [Sept. 15, 1954], No. 25321/55. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XL (c)] An ultra-high-frequency oscillator using a discharge tube having an anode, a grid, and a cathode, such as a lighthouse tube, in a coaxial resonator has an additional concentric member connected to the cathode. As shown in the Figure, an outer shell 10 is connected to the cathode, a central rod 9 to the anode, and an intermediate sleeve 8 to the grid. Between the sleeve 8 and the shell 10 is a further sleeve 12 which is also connected to the cathode. A slot in the sleeve 12 enables a connection 19 to be made to the grid sleeve 8. The unclamped portion of the sleeve 12 should be about oneeighth wavelength long at the operating frequency. The additional sleeve 12 increases the coupling between the grid-anode and gridcathode regions.
