Abstract
625,901. Electron oscillators. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. May 6, 1946, No. 13735. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] An amplifier for ultra-high-frequencies comprises an electron multiplier of the to-and-fro type in which an electron beam oscillates between two planar secondary electrodes A1, A2, Fig. 1, disposed in cavity resonators I, III which are interconnected by a metallic tube II having identical orifices at each end disposed opposite the secondary electrodes. The metallic tube II is at positive potential with respect to the cathodes, highly capacitive joints being provided for passage of the high-frequency currents, and the electron beam is focused by an axial magnetic field. The two cavity resonators are coupled to a high-frequency oscillator and to a ,common load. The orifices at each end of the metallic tube may comprise grids. The metallic tube II may be inserted in an opening provided in a wall common to the cavity resonators and held in position by a cylindrical member separated from the tube by an insulating sleeve. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also modifications in which the cavity resonators communicate with each other through an apertured common wall or through a cylinder supported by an insulating ring. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
