428,258. Thermionic valves. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN - EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN MEAF, (formerly NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN-EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN), 30, Croeselaan, Utrecht, Holland. July 23, 1934, No. 21569. Convention date, July 21, 1933. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] A valve for generating, amplifying, or receiving ultra-short waves contains a resonator comprising two coaxial conductors of which the outer conductor acts as an aerial. In one form the resonator consists of coaxial cylinders A<1>, G<1> having flanges F<1>, F<2> which are insulated from each other and form a shortcircuit condenser. A plate P forms with these flanges a further short-circuiting condenser and is connected to the cathode H by one of the heater leads H<1>. The cylinders A<1>, G<1> are respectively integral with a cylindrical anode A and a grid G consisting of parallel rods arranged on a cylinder. The voltage leads are connected at potential nodes, and preferably at the flanges F<1>, F2. In a modification, the flanges F<1>, F2 are dispensed with and the cylinders A<1>, G<1> are brought close together for a portion of their length by increasing the diameter of the cylinder G<1> over this part. In another modification, the cylinders are integral with grids and anodes at each end.
