Abstract

475,769. Discharge apparatus; thermionic valve circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. April 2, 1937, No. 9456. Convention date, April 2, 1936. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] A tube comprises a set of secondaryemitting electrodes adjacent the primary cathode constituting a secondary cathode system and a further set of electrodes, both sets being located symmetrically in pairs with respect to the primary cathode. The secondary-emitting set may comprise two semi-cylindrical grids made up of longitudinal wires or radial or oblique slats joined by end bridges or of sheet material longitudinally slit, the remaining portions being twisted to serve as slats. In a modification, Fig. 5, four arcuate sheets PI, P2, P3, P4 are arranged about the cathode K of a magnetron and are secondary-emissive on their outer faces. Secondary-emitting slats W may be added. A four-part anode system Al, A2, A3, A4 surrounds the sheets. Input oscillations may be applied across a two-part inner system, the output being connected across a two-part anode system. In a frequency-multiplier, Fig. 7, the input is applied to a circuit St connected across the inner system P1, P2 and, in the form shown, doublefrequency oscillations are taken from the circuit O. A positively-biassed collecting electrode system N, to which modulation signals may be applied, is provided. The axial magnetic field coil is not shown. Specification 180,655, [Class 39 (i)], is referred to.
