Abstract
797,230. Hatchway for bulk cargo. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Feb. 9, 1956 [Feb. 16, 1955], No. 4128/56. Class 113. In a hatchway for ships carrying bulk cargo having a longitudinally extending shifting bulkhead 6 on each long side of the hatchway, each long side of the hatch coaming comprises two vertical members 2, 4 projecting upwards above the plane of the deck 1, the inner one 4 of said members constituting an upward extension of the appertaining shifting bulkhead 6 such that the sections of the cargo space separated by said bulkhead are in open communication with separate feeder spaces 10, 11 within the coaming. The members 2 and 4 are connected by reinforcing members 9, the upper portion of member 4 being a horizontal plate 7 secured to the member 2 and having filler openings 8 for the cargo. The shifting bulkheads are pivotally mounted at 5 to the members 4, and the hatchway is closed by a cover 3.
