Abstract
821,881. Cargo ships. CANTIERI RIUNITE DELL ADRIATICO S. p. A. Jan. 24, 1957 [Feb. 2, 1956], No. 2573/57. Class 113. A ship's hull including a base 8, a lower deck 5 and an upper deck 3 defining between them a hold 18 and a tweendecks 7, and upper and lower deck hatch openings 4, 6, has upper partitioning 11 pivoted at 10. The lower deck is supported by stanchions 14, and lower portioning 17 is pivoted at 16. Fig. 1 shows partitioning positions suitable for bulk cargo such as grain or coal. The members of the partitioning 17 lie one upon the other to fill the well 9, while the inclined portioning 11 leaves space 19 through which cargo can be moved to the tweendeck side spaces. Shift-preventing plates 15 are mounted under the lower deck 5. In Fig. 2, all the portioning 11, 17 is raised for ore cargo stowage. For general cargoes requiring the greatest cubic capacity the partitioning is arranged horizontally, Fig. 3. The portioning 11 rests on removable beams 12 and serves as a hatch cover for the lower deck hatch 6.
