Abstract
737,695. Grain feeder and hatch cover. PARSONS, E. W., and WHITWILL, M. May 17, 1954 [Feb. 17, 1953], No. 4426/53. Class 113 (1). In a device for stowing and preventing the movement of grain or the like comprising a feeder extending upwardly from the 'tween deck 7 and formed of two pairs of panels, one pair 1 hinged at 3 to the coamings 4 and the other 'pair 2 hinged at 5 to the hatch beams 6 of the 'tween deck 7, the panels are removably connected together by angle bars 11 and to the drop coamings 8 and the beams of the hatch in the main deck 9 to form an open box-like structure. When the feeder is not in use the panels 1, 2 lie flat to act as hatch covers, as shown in Fig. 1. The feeder has a removable partition comprising shifting boards 12 disposed in the central line plane in slots or guide-ways 13 in the panels 2. In the hold below the feeder (see Fig. 4) a dividing vertical partition comprises two metal panels 15 hinged at 16 to the centre line fore and aft bulkheads 17. The panels overlap and are joined together, e.g. by bolts 18, and are also bolted to removable stanchions 19.
