Abstract

789,540. Cargo boards. M.E.P. CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1956 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 29589/54. Class 113. In a ship's hold a member 10 for carrying shifting boards 24 is substantially less in length than the depth of the hold and is suspended from a hatch beam 23 or when detachably suspended may be'secured to the hold floor or tank tops so as to project up therefrom. The member 10 comprises an I-section joist to which bars 11 are welded forming channels 12 extending the full length of the member. One end of the member is provided with lugs 14 for the attachment of stay wires 16 whilts at the other end are welded brackets 17 having a flange 20 and a flange 19 with holes 22 therein. With a full bulk cargo the members 10 are suspended from the beams 23 by bolts passed through the holes 22 in the brackets to registering holes in the beams, the boards 24 being supported in the channels 12 by stops which are bolted in the lower end of the channels. When a part bulk cargo is carried the members are inverted and the brackets bolted to the tank tops, said stops being removed so that the shifting boards 24 can be slid down into position.
