Abstract

737,400. Fibre drafting devices. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Nov. 10, 1953 [Nov. 10, 1952], No. 28249/52. Class 120(2). An apron drafting apparatus has aprons of an adjacent upper pair guided by a common tensor bar which is supported on the arbor of the upper apron roller between two bosses. Intermediate the two bosses 20 on arbor 24 is located a sleeve 27 to which is attached a bracket 25 that extends forwardly to form the tensor bar 211 of a pair of aprons 19 and rearwardly to rest through a knife edge 28 on a ramp 30 that may be given transverse movements to raise or lower the knife edge 28 and consequently to vary the pressure of the aprons 19 on the lower aprons 15. Adjustment of the position of the lower apron roller 16 results in a corresponding movement of the ramp 30, thus facilitating the positioning of the upper apron roller. If it is desired to provide a tension adjustment for the aprons 19, the bracket 25 may be slotted instead of being drilled with holes to receive 'screws for attachment to the sleeve 27. Specification 718,926 is referred to.
