Abstract

711,425. Roller weighting arrangements. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. March 20, 1952 [April 4, 1951; Oct. 22, 1951], Nos. 7814/51 and 24631/51. Class 120(2) The upper rollers in a textile drafting apparatus are mounted in a member 14 pivoted to the rear bar 15 of the machine and individually adjustable resilient means are provided for supplying loading pressure to each roller when the member 14 is held in an operative position by a releasable catch. The upper rollers are carried in bearing blocks 21 which are mounted on the member 14 with provision for longitudinally adjusting their positions. The resilient loading pressure is applied by springs 22 bearing upon pressure pads 23 against the roller shafts, adjustment of the pressure being obtained by rotating screws 24 in the blocks 21. Spring clips 25 are provided to retain the rollers in the blocks when the member 14 is raised. The member 14 is held in the operative position by engagement of a pivoted latch 17 with a member 19. Modifications of the latch members are described which allow adjustment of the latching position. A member 39, Fig. 5, may also be pivoted to the bar 15 and carries a block clearer 40 and a front roller clearer 42. Roller clearing means may also be carried by a dust cover pivoted to the arm 14, and a fixed underclearer may be mounted beneath the lower rollers by means of a spring. Spring pressed plunger 26 and recesses 27 are provided to hold the arms 14 in the raised position.
