Abstract

748,844. Roller mounting and loading arrangements. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Oct. 13, 1954 [Oct. 13, 1953], No. 28154/53. Class 120 (2). In roller supporting and loading means for textile drafting apparatus the upper rollers are supported at their extremities between two pivotal arms (independent of arms supporting axially adjacent rollers), incorporating roller loading springs energized when the arms are locked in the operative position, the arrangement being such that each pair of arms and the rollers supported therebetween are capable of movement to and from the operative position as a unit. In the arrangement shown upper rollers 121, 131, 141 and 151 are suspended at each end between a pair of arms 16, 17 (16 not shown) pivoted on a fixed rail 18 extending longitudinally of the roller stand 10 and supported thereon by brackets 19. The arbors of the rollers are carried in bearing brackets 20 which can be adjusted longitudinally of the arms 16 and 17 and each of which houses a plunger 21 loaded by a spring 22. The force exerted by springs 22 can be adjusted by screws 23. The arms 16 and 17 are locked in the operative position by a catch 24 which engages a lug 201 on one of the bearing brackets 20.
