Abstract

735,133. Textile drawing apparatus. S.K.F. KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GES., [formerly VEREINIGTE KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN AKT.-GES.]. Feb. 10, 1953 [Feb. 28, 1952], No. 3741/53. Class 120(2). A textile drawing frame comprising a top roller carrier which is capable of being tilted out of operative position and extends over the top rollers and embodies a supporting arm and subsidiary brackets for supporting and guiding the top rollers by means of saddles is characterized in that a long bracket for supporting the front pair of top rollers extends throughout the whole length of the drafting area at a level between the subsidiary brackets supporting the remaining top rollers and the plane of the areas of the top rollers. In the embodiment shown a drawing frame comprises a base 1, a bracket 2 and a top roller carrier 3. The base 1 carries slidable bearing supports 15 and 16 for the bottom rollers 12, 13, 14. The bracket 2 is adjustably fixed to the end of the base 1 and carries on a pivot 20 the carrier 3. Locking means comprising elements 24 and 25 are provided for locking the roller carrier in its operative position. The carrier 3 consists of a box-shaped arm 21. The front pair of top rollers 29 are held in a saddle 37 by a spring 39 the saddle being fastened to the long bracket 28 which by means of a U-shaped stirrup 33 is hinged to the pivot 20. Helical springs 22 and 23 between a collar 36 on the bar 28 and collar 35 on the arm 21 serve to press the top rollers 29 against the bottom roller 11. The remaining top rolls 30, 31 and 32 are held by springs 39 in saddles 47. The saddles for the middle pairs of rollers 30 and 31 are fastened to a common subsidiary bracket 46 hinged on a pivot 50 in a member 51 which is itself pivoted at 62 in a housing 48. The saddle 47 for roller 32 is arranged on a bracket 52 pivoted at 53 to a housing 54. The housings 48 and 54 are longitudinally slidable in the arm 21 and can be fixed in any position by screws 49. Helical springs 64, 65 and 66, 67 arranged between collars 63 press the rollers 30, 31 and 32 on to the respective lower rollers 12, 13 and 14. On the outside of the arm 21 is secured an angle piece 41 to which is pivoted at 43 a lever 42 having hinged to it a stop member 45. This member 45 has an opening 451 through which the bar 28 reaches. When the lever 42 is swung forward it lifts the bar 28 and hence the rollers 29 the springs 22 and 23 being compressed. It may also be arranged that brackets 46 and 52 are also lifted by the bar 28 so that the pressure of all the springs is taken up by the stop member 45 and the bar 28. This arrangement facilitates the unlocking of the members 24 and 25 to permit raising of the carrier 3. It also aids the removal of laps from the front rollers 29.
