792,779. Textile drafting mechanism. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GES. Dec. 7, 1955 [Dec. 8, 1954; Jan. 20, 1955], No. 35150/55. Class 120(2) Textile drafting mechanism which comprises a top apron supporting cradle and a top roller carrier arm 1 which can be raised from the plane of the drafting field and carries saddle-shaped seatings 8, 9, for supporting the top rollers 10, 11 is characterized in that means 15, 17 are provided for ensuring a sliding guided engagement of the cradle and the seatings 8, 9 whereby these parts are maintained in correct assembled relation. Preferably, circular guideways 17 are provided on the cradle to engage circular guideways 15 on the seatings 8, 9 and the cradle has sides 16 to restrain the cradle against movement longitudinally of the roller axis. The cradle is preferably retained on the arm 7 during insertion and removal of the top roller 10 by a screw 22 screwed into the arm 7 through a slot 21 in an apron-guiding plate 20, and a spring 25 is positioned between the plate 20 and the arm 7 to urge the plate 20 towards the bottom apron 24, the distance between the top apron 26 and the bottom apron 24 being adjustable by means of an adjustable or exchangeable pin 27. Preferably, the arm 7 is pivotally mounted at 6 on a bracket 5 of the lever 2 pivoted in the carrier arm 1, the arm 7 being loaded by springs 12, and its downward vertical movement being limited by stops 13 and 4 on the arm 1. Annular segments are fitted on the cradle and are received in corresponding recesses in the seating 8. The centre of the inner circumference of the segment on the seating 8 may be off-set from the centre of the outer circumference, in which case the spring 25 is unnecessary. In a modification, there is a semi-circular segment on either side of the seating 8 facing downwardly and received in semicircular recesses in the cradle. When in normal operation, the openings do not conincide, so that the top roller shaft 10 is retained in position, but for removal of the top roller, the openings may be brought into coincidence. In a further modification, the inner circumference of the annular segment is eccentric to the outer circumference of the segment, and the spring 25 in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 is rendered unnecessary.
