Abstract
830,614. Weighting pressure rollers in textile drafting machines. WUERTT. SPINDELFABRIK G.m.b.H. June 21, 1956 [June 30, 1955], No. 19215/56. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) In a loading device for pressure rollers of drafting mechanisms a single or multipart saddle is provided with two or more pressure rollers, and is not only loaded but also guided and located in the horizontal plane entirely by means of a single spring of leaf or round section which constitutes the only connection between the saddle and a support member of the drawing mechanism, one end of the spring being pivotally attached to, or adapted to press into a recess of, the saddle in such a way as to permit pivotal movement, but not linear movement, thereof and the other end of the spring being firmly retained on the support member, which is rotatable and lockable at desired points of its rotation with respect to a fixed frame member of the machine. As shown in Fig. 3, a spring 1a is adjustably attached to a support 13 pivotable about a bar 12 and held in the operative position by a locking pin 14 and adjusting ring 15. Clamping ribs on a cover 18 engage recesses in the support 13. At its free end the spring 1a embraces a pin 16 on a part 4a of a bearing carrier, a part 4b being mounted on the part 4a and carrying adjustable bearings 6a, 6b, the bearing 5a on the part 4a being fixed. The pressure distribution may be varied by engaging the pin 16 in any of the holes 20. An alternative method of locking the support 13 comprises a rotatably mounted locking lever (Fig. 5, not shown) spring urged at one end into engagement with a locking element and at the other end formed into a grip which when manually depressed releases the end from the locking element. A modification, Fig. 1 (not shown) comprises a two-roller system in which a loading spring is fixed at one end to a rotatable and lockable cross-bar and at the other end to a carrier having one fixed and one adjustable bearing. A further embodiment, Fig. 7, shows a system similar to that of Fig. 3 but with all three bearings adjustable, and the spring 1b mounted on the cover 18a and adjustable in a slot on the support 13 by means of a screw 28. Each of the bearings 6a, 6d, 6e is grooved to engage flanges on the cover 18a and thus limit the vertical adjustment of the bearings. The screw 28 may be exchanged with either of the adjacent fixing screws to give further adjustment of the spring 1b. Fig. 13 shows a stirrup 33 mounted on the cover 18c and having lugs 34a for mounting clearer rollers, and projections 35 for mounting apron guides. Displacement of the stirrup 33 results in a variation of the pressure exerted on the apron by the guides. Fig. 23 shows an embodiment in which the spring 1i is adjustably mounted on an element 46 rotatable on a bar 47; the pressure is released by pulling out a resiliently adjustable bolt 48 and swinging the device outwardly. In Fig. 15, not shown, the spring is almost flat, but is supported between its ends by one leg of an adjustable stirrup, the other leg being attached to the end of the spring. Another embodiment, Fig. 16 (not shown) has a laminated. leaf spring supported at one end to be adjustable vertically against a scale and between its ends by a projection on a plate adjustably mounted on the carrier 13. A further embodiment, Fig. 18 (not shown) comprises a leaf spring fixed at one end to a bearing carrier and at the other end to the cover 18 which is adjustable in the carrier 13 by a screw and slot, the slot also containing a screw which bears on the spring between its ends and can thus adjust the pressure of the spring on the bearings. The slot is covered by a plate. Three-roller systems may be converted to two-roller systems by replacing the bearing of one roller by a support which abuts on the flange of the cover 18. A four-roller system described with reference to Fig. 22 (not shown) comprises a spring fastened at one end to the carrier 13 and pressing at its other end on a carrier part which supports at each end a bearing carrier in each of which two bearings are adjustably mounted. A spring-urged locking lever is arranged on the carrier 13 to engage a rail on the machine and hold the arm in the operative position.
