Abstract

1339168 Roller weighting mechanism SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GmbH 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 24595/71 Heading DID A top roll of a drafting mechanism in a spinning machine is weighted by a spring 16 which bears at one end through an abutment 22 on a roll carrier 4 pivoted at 24 and abuts at its other end against a member 14 which has a number of abutment surfaces and is rotatable about a pin 18 to adjust the weighting. An abutment member 15 between the spring and the member 14 has guide portions 20 slidable in slots 21 in a housing 13, and may comprise two parts screwed together to provide further adjustment. The member 14 projects through a slot in the upper surface of a bearer 2 which is pivotally secured to the drafting frame and may carry three housings 13 each secured to it by a screw 12. The roll is held in the carrier 4 by a spring detent 27, and a stop spring 26 limits deflection of the carrier by the spring 16 when the bearer 2 is raised to lift the top rolls away from the bottom rolls. A pin and slot arrangement may be associated with the abutment 22 to move the point at which the abutment engages the carrier 4 away from the pivot 24 as the spring extends.
