Abstract

718,470. Textile drafting apparatus. SACO-LOWELL SHOPS. July 25, 1952 [Aug. 30, 1951], No. 18902/52. Class 120(2) Double apron drafting mechanism having a long, lower, tensioned apron and a short upper one has a cradle for the upper, apron consisting of two side pieces, a crossmember forming an upper apron tensor and means for vertically spacing the forward end of the cradle from the lower apron guide bar. The cradle consists of two side members 40 fixed to a crossmember 42 and carrying legs 46 that rest upon the lower apron bar 24. towards which they are.urged by a spring 48 mounted on a weighting saddle 38. Recesses 44 are provided in the side members 40 to receive the arbor 36 of the upper apron roller, the boss 34 of which is mounted on anti-friction bearings. It is preferred that the upper apron 30 should prciect forwardly of the lower apron 20 as it passes over the bar 24.
