Abstract

781,603. Edge-binding machines. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Dec, 2, 1955 [Dec. 24, 1954], No. 37307/54. Class 73 Tape 16 is applied as an edge binding to a stack of sheets 13 by a machine comprising a roller 3 mounted on a framework 2, a second roller 8 mounted parallel to the roller 3 and urged towards it, and a guide 15 for the sheets so arranged as to present the edge to be bound to the nip between the two rollers. The frame shown consists of two end plates spanned by a plate 14 which carries the guide 15. The roller 8 is mounted on a spring urged pivoted arm 7, and both rollers are covered with rubber having longitudinal serrations. The shaft of roller 3 is fitted with a turning handle. In a modification the spindle of the roller 8 is mounted in slots in the framework, and in another modification one roller is urged towards the other by its own weight. The roller axes,'in a further modification, may lie in a vertical plane and the guide may feed the stack horizontally.
