671,639. Textile drafting apparatus; mounting and weighting arrangements. AMBLER SUPERDRAFT, Ltd. Oct. 30, 1948 [Nov. 7, 1947], No. 29687/47. Class 120(ii) Drafting apparatus of the kind in Which a roving or the like is passed between a pair of positively driven intermediate rollers has the upper intermediate roller 16 rotatably mounted in a supporting bracket 43 pivotally mounted for movement about an axis parallel to the axis of the roller, so that the upper roller 16 can be swung clear of the lower roller 17. The bracket 43 is pivoted at 44 on the framework 26 of an intermediate unit mounted to traverse on a bearing member 28. The intermediate unit is attached to a saddle member by pins 63 on leaf springs 66 secured to the framework. The leaf springs 66 also serve to hold the bracket 43 in " open " position. Removable weights 49 are secured to the bracket 43 for supplying the necessary presure between the rollers 16, 17. Cover plates 51 are arranged to slide into recesses in the framework 26 to enclose the gears transmitting drive to the intermediate rollers. Specification 671,643 is referred to.
