Abstract

726,733. Carding engines. ROVIRO, J. V. May 11, 1953 [May 16, 1952], No. 13114/53. Class 120 (1) A carding machine is provided with a multiple feed table member 10, Fig. 1, which extends throughout the breadth of the machine and the external surface of which is formed by the union of three or more tables of different proportions, so that by rotating the member 10 the table surface most suitable to the length of fibres to be worked can be utilised. Each table surface comprises a concave portion adapted to the curvature of the feed roller 5, and a plane portion 11, 12, 13, 14, of different dimensions in each case, for co-operation with the licker-in 7. Member 10 is rotatably adjustable about a core 15 bolted to the frame 1 through slots 18 as to be displaceable towards and away from the licker-in. Feed roller 5 rests freely on the concave table surface and is pressed thereagainst by weighting levers 22, Fig. 3. The feed roller is located by arms 20 pivoted at 21, and is driven through the usual transmission shaft with the interposition of a pinion or pinions which permit small displacements of the roller. The roller 2, Fig. 1, which unwinds the sheet of fibres from a roll 4, is driven from roller 5 via pinions 25, 26, 27, 28, pinion 26 being carried on adjustable levers 30.
