Abstract
731,037. Reciprocating suction pumps. HUMBER, Ltd., and COY, E. W. Aug. 10, 1953, No. 22052/53. Class 8 (1). A reciprocating suction pump comprises a cylinder 12 closed by a head 13 and having an inlet port 15 in the side wall remote from the closed end and a by-pass 17 formed in the side wall adjacent the head 13. A piston 14, reciprocated in the cylinder by a connecting rod 10 which may be driven from a rocker arm or an i.e. engine constructed as described in Specification 648,117, [Group XXXI], controls the port 15 and has ports 18, 19 which register with the by-pass 17 on the compression stroke. Ports 18, 19 are repeated at 18A, 19A so that the piston cannot be fitted incorrectly. Compressed gas is discharged through the piston skirt.
