Abstract

736,169. Reciprocating pumps. GULF OIL (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., and HAMILTON, W. H. May 13, 1954 [May 13, 1953], No. 13408/53. Class 102 (1). A reciprocating lubricating pump is mounted on a reservoir 1 and draws oil from the bottom of a sight-glass 25 through a non-return suction valve 27. The top of the sight-glass is connected to a pipe 34 depending into the reservoir and fitted at its end with a non-return valve 35. As shown in Fig. 1, the pump has a differential piston 4 which is actuated by a rocking lever 12 through a lever 15 the movement of which is limited by an adjustable abutment 17 to vary the stroke of the piston; the fulcrum 16 may also be adjusted for the same purpose. The pump piston may be actuated manually by the rod 18. The pump delivery is fitted with non- return valve 30, 31. In a modified form, the pump piston is of uniform diameter and leakage past the piston is led ports in the cylinder walls to the space between the sight-glass and the suction valve. In a further form, the pump cylinder is mounted horizontally on the reservoir. Several pumps may be mounted on the reservoir.
