Abstract
730,614. Stoves. LATHE & CO., Ltd., C. Jan. 19, 1954 [Feb. 9, 1953], No. 3543/53. Class 126. In a domestic fireplace of the type having a back boiler and a flue passing below and up the back of the boiler, a slidable damper plate being provided in the flue above the boiler, an adjustable baffle plate is movably mounted on part of the boiler flue assembly above the fireplace so as to extend across the chimney throat, and means are provided to move the plate into a number of different positions. The baffle 11 is mounted on trunnions 15 formed on extensions of the guides 17 in which the damper 18 controlling the boiler flue slides. A forward extension 10 secured by bolts 12 passing through slots in lugs projecting from the plate 10 closes the space between the lintel and the baffle 11. The baffle 11 is adjusted by a lever 22 provided with a lug engaging notches in a quadrant 26 secured to an extension of the guides 17 and pivoted to a lug 23 on the baffle. Projections 20 at the rear of the baffle 11 engage brackets 21 on the guides 17 to prevent the chimney throat being fully closed.
