490,552. Cooking - ranges. FORTH & CLYDE & SUNNYSIDE IRON COS., Ltd., and BROWN, J. March 3, 1937, No. 6287. [Class 126] In a range comprising two hobs 1, la, a fireplace 2 between the hobs, flues 7 beneath the hobs, and an oven 4 above and behind the hobs and heated by flues 6 connectible with the flues 7, a sliding hood 5 accommodated below the oven is provided with a movable front plate 14 which when not in use is accommodated in a horizontal position against the underside of the top plate of the hood. The hood 5, which is slidable from a position under the oven to a position over the fireplace, is of inverted-channel shape, and has L-shaped guides 13 at the sides so that the plate 14 can be slid from a vertical to a horizontal position. Behind the fireplace 2 is a boiler 9 beneath and behind which is a flue 10 leading to the oven flues 6. The flue 10 is controlled by a sliding damper 11, with an upright plate 12 to close the rear end of the hood 5 when the latter is in its rearmost position. When the hood is drawn forward, the hot gases can pass directly to the flues 6. Pivoted dampers 8 control the connection between the flues 7 and the flues 6. The hobs are connected at the back by a back-strap 3.
