Abstract

726,455. Electromagnetically-actuated spraying pumps. WELCH, L. July 13, 1953 [April 17, 1953], No. 10545/53. Class 102 (1). In a spray gun, the pump piston 14 is actuated bv a vibratory electric motor 19 and two alternative connections 9, 10 are provided for the attachment of a liquid container. The connection 10 is surrounded by a threaded boss 27 for the reception of a bottle 28 and a tube 29 is attached to the connection 10 and the liquid raised by suction. A bottle may be screwed directly into the connection 9 so that the liquid flows into the pump by gravity. The connections 9 or 10 not being used is closed by a screw. The housing is pistol-shaped and in two halves for removal of the pump and motor. The motor armature abuts a thrust rod 16, mounted in bearings 17, which abuts the piston 14 that is loaded by a spring 15; the stroke of the pump is adjusted by an abutment 24 fitted with a sound deadening tip 31. A switch 21 is actuated by a finger piece 22. The pump piston controls inlet ports 12, 13 and a delivery valve 23 is provided.
