Abstract

675,664. Reciprocating pumps. BURGESS VIBROCRAFTERS, Inc. Feb. 21, 1949 [Feb. 26, 1948], No. 4710/49. Class 102 (i) A reciprocating pump for spraying liquids comprises a sleeve 14 mounted on the cover 4 of a container and containing a cylinder 22 having an inlet port 35, controlled by a piston 29, and a delivery valve 25 ; a nozzle 28 is held in position by a nut 28a. The piston is reciprocated by an armature 10 of an electromagnet 8 and a spring 32 urges the piston during the suction stroke which is opposed by a second spring 19b adjustable by a knob 20 to vary the stroke of the piston and the efficiency of operation of the pump. Leakage past the piston returns to the liquid container through a pipe 39.
