Abstract

711,879. Dispensing pumps. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd., [trading as NON-DRIP MEASURE C0.1. March 30, 1953 [April 16, 1952], No. 9576/52. Class 102 (1). A pump for dispensing measured quantities of liquid comprises a cylinder 1 attached to a container 2 and having a rigid or flexible suction pipe 13 fitted with a suction valve 11 and a delivery 17 fitted with a nozzle 18 and a delivery valve 19 in which the valve or the seat is notched, as shown at 21, so that when the piston 5 makes the suction stroke under the spring 6, a reduction of pressure in the nozzle 18 prevents drip. The piston 5 is pressed inwards by a finger knob 8 which has a split skirt screwing into the shank 5a and locked in position by a grub screw 9 which has a conical end engaging a conical surface in the bore of the skirt; the knob is thus adjustable to vary the point at which it engages the sleeve 7 to limit the stroke. The cylinder 1 may have a collar 3 which is secured to the container 2 by a nut 4; a slot 20 permits entry of air into the container 2. The suction and delivery valves are in the form of piston members having a polygonal cross section guided in the bore of a housing and having a circular seat and openings 16.
