Abstract

1475855 Reciprocating pumps PERMAC (UK) INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 April 1976 [29 April 1975 (2)] 17755/75 and 17756/75 Heading F1A A pump, e.g. for supplying liquid to spray nozzles in a dry-cleaning machine, comprises a pumping piston 13 driven by double-acting air water piston 14, the stroke of which is adjustable by a threaded stop rod 20. In the embodiment shown, the cylinder space beneath piston 13 is connected to inlet and outlet check valves via branches 23, and the cylinder space above the piston is vented through port 17. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown), increased delivery pressure is obtained by connecting the actuating fluid-pressure additionally to port 17 to act above piston 13, and piston 13 has a throughport controlled by a check valve (29) which opens at the end of the delivery stroke for actuating fluid to pass through and clean the cylinder, delivery line and spray nozzles. Two adjusting rods 20 of different lengths may be used. Handle 22 has an indicator mark co-operating with a scale showing the stroke setting. A reversing valve for the actuating cylinder may be controlled electrically, pneumatically or manually.
