Abstract

1394648 Reciprocating pumps TOYO SODA MFG CO Ltd 16 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23366/73 Heading F1A A pump, e.g. for use in liquid chromatography, comprises pumping pistons 1, 1A reciprocated by a gas motor piston 6 and delivering to a common line 28 via check valves 200, 200A. Reciprocation of piston 6 is controlled by spring-loaded plungers 17, 17A operating micro-switches 19, 19A which control a solenoid 24 operating a changeover valve 23 receiving pressurized gas, e.g. air, from a container or compressor 21 via a pressure-adjusting valve 22. Pressure gauges 26, 27 are provided. Pump cylinders 2, 2A are secured in motor cylinder end-plates 8, 8A by bolts 14, 14A. End plates 8, 8A are secured by tie rods 13. O-ring seals 9-12 and a packing 3 are provided. Gas flow paths of large flow cross-section, and clearance between the motor piston and the motor cylinder end-plates at the end of the piston stroke, may be provided to minimize the stroke reversal time and hence pump output pressure fluctuation.
