872,582. Reciprocating dispensing pumps. GASKELL & CHAMBERS Ltd., [trading as NON-DRIP MEASURE CO.]. Nov. 25, 1959 [Dec. 8, 1958], No. 39511/58. Class 102(1). A pump for mounting on a container has a piston 5 formed with a recess 10 which communicates with the outlet from the discharge valve 13 and outlet 18 leading to the nozzle 19. At the end of the downward stroke the upper land 5b closes the outlet 18 which together with a slight suction effect on the return stroke is stated to prevent drip from the nozzle 19. The piston 5 may be of integral construction or formed from several parts. Stops may be fitted to limit the return stroke of the piston. The Specification states that the liquid in the recess 10 effectively seals the lands 5b.
