Abstract

1,071,947. Reciprocating pumps. VALVE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. April 22, 1965 [May 27, 1964], No. 17091/65. Heading F1A. In a bucket piston type spray pump the piston is depressed against the action of a spring 32 to discharge liquid. The piston comprises a flexible member 38 which engages both the cylinder wall and a valve 44 secured to the piston rod by a stem 46. The spring 32 engages the member 38 so that when the piston is depressed the combined action of the spring 32 and the liquid pressure distorts portion of the member 38 into a recess 54 to clear the valve 44. Air enters the container 10 by a passage 57. Modified shapes of recesses and members 32 are described.
