688,500. Reciprocating pumps. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd., (trading as NON-DRIP MEASURE CO.). Sept. 11, 1951 [Oct. 25, 1950], No. 26022/50. Class 102 (i). A reciprocating pump for dispensing measured quantities from a container comprises a cylinder 1 to the bottom of which a foot piece 8 is fitted to house the inlet and delivery valves. The inlet valve 10 has a seat in a plug 11 which carries the inlet tube 13 and filter 13a; the tube may be rigid or flexible. The outlet valve is spring-loaded and seats in member 15 screwed into the foot-piece, the opening being closed by a plug 16. The outlet pipe 21 is connected to a cover 18 for the upper end of the cylinder and communicates with the delivery tube 20. The cover 18 has threads for securing the pump to the container and forming a closure for the container. A collar 6 is pinned to the piston rod 3 and forms an abutment for a spring 5 the other end of which engages a member 7 secured-to the cylinder 1. A buffer spring 27 is fitted between the collar 26 and the cover to prevent bouncing of the piston at the end of its upward stroke and thus prevent drip. The stroke of the piston may be varied by fitting collars 6 of various widths.
