Abstract

649,623. Reciprocating pumps. NEWTON & BENNETT, Ltd. Sept. 28, 1948, No. 25221. [Class 102(i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A hydraulic pump comprises a cylinder f permanently secured to a block d attached by bolts to the underside of a cover b of a reservoir a. The cylinder has an inlet valve f<SP>2</SP> and the piston is secured to a rod r and has a valve r<SP>4</SP>. The diameter of the rod is such that equal delivery occurs on each stroke the liquid passing through passages r<SP>5</SP> in the rod and k in the body. The passage k communicates with an outlet n, an automatic release valve k<SP>1</SP>, and a manuallyoperated release valve o<SP>2</SP> actuated by a lever q connected to operating mechanism mounted on the cover. The rod r is reciprocated by a lever t<SP>1</SP>, t that is partly enclosed by a casing b<SP>2</SP>; a cover b<SP>5</SP> is secured to the handle t<SP>1</SP>. A gland g (see Group XXVI) surrounds the rod r. Specification 647,817, [Group XXX], is referred to.
