Abstract

1,150,533. Reciprocating pumps. SOC. HISPANO-SUIZA-LALLEMANT. Oct. 20, 1967 [Oct.26, 1966], No.47911/67. Heading F1A. An axial piston pump comprises a stationary cylinder block 5 with bucket pistons 3 reciprocated by a swash-plate member 17 supported by bearings 20 in a drive-shaft member 21, liquid entering the cylinders from the pump casing via piston ports 52 controlled by sleeves 49 slidable on the pistons between abutments 47, 50, and the liquid being delivered through lift valves 12 to a common outlet 9, delivery being regulated by a by-pass valve 13 having a groove 15, Fig.3, controlling by-pass ports 16 in the cylinders. The valve 13 is rotated by the drive-shaft 2 through a rod 29 and a ball and spline coupling 33 to 35, axial movement of the valve being effected manually or by a servopiston 40 responsive to the pump delivery pressure. The groove 15 is located such that in the left hand position of the valve 13, all of the cylinders on the delivery stroke are by-passed to the pump casing via groove 15 and valve ports 36. In the right-hand position of the valve, as shown in Fig.1, none of the cylinders is by-passed.
