Abstract

1,149,090. Reciprocating pumps and motors. C.C. BROWN. Dec.7, 1966 [Jan.24, 1966], No.54882/66. Heading F1A. Two hydraulic pump assemblies 11, 11', e.g. for drilling mud, for oil or gas field use, are hydraulically actuated 90 degrees out of phase to provide smooth delivery, the assemblies each comprising a motor piston 13 carrying pump cylinders 15, 16 reciprocable on fixed pump pistons 26, 27, inlet and delivery ball valves 46 to 49 being provided. The motor pistons 13, 13' are actuated by hydraulic fluid supplied from reservoir 60 by pump 61 under the control of valves 64, 66, 68 and 70. Valve 70 is actuated by a rod 75 on piston assembly 13' at the end of each stroke, rod 75 engaging tappet 73 or 73' to reverse valve 70, which reverses the pressure and exhaust connections to either end of valve 68, so that valve 68 is reversed, and reverses piston 13'. Valve 66 is actuated by rod 75 at the middle of each stroke of piston 13', valve 66 acting to reverse valve 65, which reverses piston 13.
