Abstract
1,089,919. Hydraulic reciprocating motors. F. REY. March 1, 1966 [April 6, 1965], No.8811/66. Heading F1A. A hydraulic motor comprises a piston 6 reciprocated in a cylinder 2 by liquid supplied to connections 8 and 9 by a reversing valve 70, reversal of valve 70 at the end of each stroke being effected hydraulically under the control of a slide valve 22 actuated by piston 6. Valve 22 is fixed to a control rod 28 having end collars 27, 29 which are engaged by a sliding sleeve 30 to move valve 22. Piston 6 acts on sleeve 30 through springs 35, 39 which permit the piston to complete its stroke after moving valve 22. Valve 70 has differential piston faces 87, 82, the smaller face 82 being continuously subjected to pressure from inlet port 71 and the larger face 87 being alternately connected to pressure and exhaust by valve 22. A throttle is provided in the exhaust line from valve 22 to retard the left-ward movement of the reversing valve. The movement of the piston 6 is retarded towards the end of its right-ward stroke by throttling the exhaust of liquid from within the piston, a check valve (53), Fig. 3 (not shown) permitting entry of liquid into the piston interior during the left-ward stroke and causing the liquid to pass through a restricted passage on the right-ward stroke.
