1291331 Reciprocating pumps and motors MORGEN MFG CO 26 Jan 1970 [27 Jan 1969] 3649/70 Heading F1A A concrete pump assembly 11 comprising a pair of piston and cylinder pumping units, 37, 38, a hopper 55 for receiving concrete and supplying it to the pumping units, and valves for controlling the pump delivery, is mounted on an I-section beam 21 which is pivoted at 29 to the trailer of a truck 13 and is moveable about the pivot between a lower operative position and a raised transport position by means of a hydraulic jack 32, 33. A pair of ball valves 57, 58 control the flow of concrete from the hopper 55 to the pumping units 37, 38 respectively, and from the latter to outlets 53, 54. The pump pistons 39, 41, are actuated through rods 46, 47 by doubleacting hydraulic motor pistons 44, 45 which reciprocate 180 degrees out of phase, and at the end of a stroke, one of a pair of rods 48, 49 connected to the motor pistons 44, 45 respectively. reverses a switch 69 via a lever 70, actuating a slide valve 102 Fig. 5 to reverse pressure and exhaust connections to a pair of double-acting hydraulic reciprocating motors 59, 60 which change over the ball valves 57, 58. One of the ball valves has a pair of control arms, 65, 66, attached thereto, one of which, when the ball valve reaches its new position actuates a switch 67, thus actuating a slide valve 89 reversing the pressure and exhaust connections to the motor cylinders 42, 43 thus reversing the strokes of pump pistons 39, 41. Hydraulic pressure is supplied by a pump 76 driven by the truck engine via a drive shaft 78 and a clutch 79 and exhaust fluid is returned to a sump 77. The three parts of the hydraulic control circuit, i. e. for controlling the ball valves 57, 58, for controlling the motor pistons 44, 45, and for raising and lowering the beam 21, are each connected to the pump 76 and sump 77 via manually operable valves 95, 83, 107 respectively.
