Abstract

1,140,586. Reciprocating pumps. INTERNATIONAL BASIC ECONOMY CORP. Jan.21, 1966 [Jan. 22, 1965), No.2944/66. Heading F1A. A pump comprises a plurality of fixed or variable displacement axial piston pump units, e.g. three, mounted in a common housing and driven by a common shaft 87 through gearing, Fig. 1. Each pump unit comprises a cylinder block 23 axially slidable in the housing to vary the effective stroke of the pistons 32 Fig. 11, which control cylinder inlet ports 25. The delivery valves 38 are mounted in piston members 34 attached to a plate 200. Relative axial movement between cylinder blocks 23 and piston members 34 is limited by stops 272. To vary the effective piston stroke, hydraulic pressure, e.g. from valve means responsive to the pump output, Fig. 10, (not shown), is applied to an annular piston 152, Fig. 1, which acts on the right hand end of the cylinder block to move it leftwards against spring 280, Fig. 11. The rotating plate 124 is of plastics, e.g. nylon. The pump units may be controlled together or selectively, and their outputs may be used together or separately. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1, 013, 680.
