Abstract
517,210. Hydraulic intensifiers. INTEGRAL AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and READER, R. W. Aug. 27,1938, No. 25208, [Class 69 (ii)] In a rotary hydraulic intensifier liquid under pressure enters an inlet passage 29 in a fixed casing 46 and passes through a bore 26 in a rotary shaft 17 fitted with a valve which is rotated by the pressure of the liquid to permit the liquid to pass through passages 22 into an annular chamber 27 connecting cylinders 12 13 in which slide pistons 14 integral with pistons 28 of smaller diameter. The pistons 14 are thus moved to the right under fluid pressure, and a swashplate 34 is actuated to rotate the shaft 17 owing to the movement of tubes 15 connected by ball-and-socket joints to the pistons and to the plate. Liquid can pass through the piston 14 and a spring-pressed valve 35 into the cylinder 13 as the piston 14 moves to the right. On reversal of the motion of the piston 14 owing to the rotation of the valve, liquid is forced from the annular chamber 27 in part through the cylinder 13 and valve 39 into passages 40 leading to the outlet 41 for the high pressure fluid, and in part through an exhaust or return pipe 30: In the form shown five pistons 14, 28 act in cyclic order. A counterweight 48 is provided on the valve shaft to balance the swashplate.
