Abstract
767,325. Reciprocating pumps. AKTIEBOLAGET IMO-INDUSTRI. July 15, 1954 [July 15, 1953], No. 20704/54. Class 102(1) [Also in Group XXIX] Liquid supplied by one pump to a piston and cylinder device is continuously delivered from the device at a uniform rate of flow and pressure, the pistons of the device being operated, in one direction, by liquid supplied by a separate pump. A pump 69 supplies liquid to two cylinders 20 alternately via a pipe 61 and a reversing valve 56 to move pistons 30, 31. Each piston has a cylinder 44 therein engaged by a stationary piston 29. Each cylinder 44 is supplied with liquid from another pump 70 via a pipe 75, one of two valves 35 and pipes 42, 43, and dis. charges through one of two valves 36 and a pipe 41. Each of the pistons 30, 31 moves an auxiliary valve 45 at the inward end of its stroke whereby liquid from the pump 70, entering the valve via a pipe 40, is diverted from one passage 59 leading to the main reversing valve 56 to another passage 59 leading to the opposite end of the valve and thereby reversing the valve. When the valve is reversed, the supply from the pump 69 is diverted from one cylinder 20 to the other cylinder. The valve 45 can be moved by hand by a lever 89 when starting the device. In a second embodiment, Fig. 7, suitable for corrosive or impure liquids, the pistons 30, 31 are reversed by collars 100 engaging arms 99 attached to the valve 45. The corrosive or impure liquid is drawn into cylinders 96 via an inlet 97 and is discharged through an outlet 98.
