Abstract

694,442. Reciprocating pumps. GOODENOUGH. F. G., and HORNER, W. A. May 28, 1951 [July 24, 1950], No. 18446/50. Class 102 (i). The plunger rod 5 of a pump is connected to a sleeve 12 through a spring coupling housed within the sleeve so that a predetermined stroke of the sleeve results in a variable stroke of the plunger according to the delivery head. The enlarged head 9 of the plunger rod is guided in a bush 11 attached to the sleeve 12 and cylindrical nut 8 is threaded on the plunger rod and guided in a bush 10 retained in position in the sleeve 12 by a flanged nut 14. Two thimbles 16, 17 surround the plunger rod and bear through washers 18, 19 on the enlargement 9 and bush 11 and also the nut 8 and bush 10; a compressed spring is placed between the thimbles. The sleeve 12 may be reciprocated by a crank pin 20.
