Abstract

707,584. Gill boxes; sliver guides. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J. Sept. 17, 1952 [July 9, 1951], No. 16240/51 Class 120(1) A gill spinning frame has a laterally extending guide between the feed rollers and the gill pins at the back of the gill bed beneath which slivers may be drawn along the guide into the path of the gill pins. Preferably the length of the faller bed is shortened to accommodate the guide, particularly when it is associated with a conductor having side walls to limit the sideways spread of the sliver. An inverted channel-member 9 with an integral guide 12, Fig. 3, may be used, or a conductor 21 with a guide 20, Fig. 4. The member 9 or guide 20 holds the sliver down against upward thrust of the fallers.
